97 Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe Plus

I've come across this jazz, but I am a little bit confused about this particular model, and my search for information has left me even more confused.

First of all, the pickups, which I understand were John Suhr ones, how do they compare to the older or newer deluxe plus pickups? Is it true that these were under par compared to other pups on this model?
Also, this being the deluxe plus model, is the "plus" simply the extra frets? What is the difference between deluxe and deluxe plus from the 90s?

What kind of model is this, exactly? I'd be grateful for any enlightenment... Seller is asking for $1000.

That's a US Deluxe.

I don't know that there was such thing as a "Deluxe Plus" that year (or any other for that matter). The seller is either mistaken of full of it.

Serial confirms it was made in 97 or 98. Is $1000 an unreasonable price for a deluxe made in this era?

I'm not up on what they're going for currently, but I sold my '97 a couple years a go a for little less than that - one-owner, near perfect condition with OHSC, case candy, nice leather strap, $50 strings, local cash sale.
