A/B/Y box - first pedal board build

I'm building a DIY IKEA GORM pedalboard that I'm very excited about, and I'm working out my set up for this summer's gigs.

What I think I'd like to do is set up an A/B/Y box to switch off between my bass and acoustic guitar duties through the same amp (in this case, my lil GK MB112). I've been looking at the EHX Switchblade or a Loop-Master ABY.

Am I correct in thinking that I might want to flip the pedal around to maintain the direction of my signal chain (as the input on most pedals is on the right, and outputs on the left)?

To wit:

AMP <--- Phaser <--- Flanger <--- Dirt <--- ABY <--- Axes


As I complete my board project, I'll be sure to post pics. Otherwise it didn't happen, right?

I use a Boss LS-2. It has seperate level controls, which might be useful if you use bass guitar and acoustic guitar through the same amp.

And I recommend to put your FX only on the bass-channel so the guitar-signal has as few "obstacles" as possible.

Ah, but I use some effects on my acoustic guitar, too. I will check out the LS-2 in the meantime though.

Bass -> bass-only effects

So, here's my GORM build. I decided that instead of a deep board, I'd go for a two-slat, slim one. Hadn't really seen one like it around here. Cost of the materials (not counting the electric stuff) was 33.93. As I had recently gone on this pedal binge, I did need to invest in a OneSpot, 5-plug chain, and 3.5" adapter for an old pedal. That stuff ran me $28.50

The paint job: this color matches our beloved 1993 Mercury Cougar that is no more For the record, I did want the wood grain to show through, but I had some pretty bad splotches/runs in the paint.

I used brackets to hold it together and rubber feet:

Things I learned: practice using spray paint. As mentioned in another thread--good velcro can be expensive (13.42 for 4 feet!), and that if I wanted to use all my pedals at the same time, I'd need to build a bigger board.

Once I get a picture of it in action, I'll post that, too.
