I love teles, but I have an Ibanez AF75 in orange, basically the Gretsch copy without a vibrato. Right now I really want one of the teles with the neck humbucker but single coil bridge pickup. Those just sound great and you can use them for everything. Now I just need an amp >.< Any suggestions on nice sounding smallish amps? i'm not doing any death metal or anything, actually looking to play more rockabilly/random rock stuff. nothing super heavy though, except maybe messing around with fuzz.

Guitars with a semi-chunky neck seem to do me pretty good. I have a Tele that's got a fairly chunky 'C' profile that's very comfortable. Also have a swamp ash LP Studio that has the '59 profile that plays very well also.

I had guitar lessons for about a year when I was 7 or so. Gave it up because I was 7; lost interest. Picked up a cheap Aria Strat copy from a friend when I was 14, taught myself bar chords, standard open chords etc. and went from there. Those lessons when I was a kid are the only guitar tuition I've had, and I'm a pretty average player (in a lead guitar sense. Being a bassist, I'm more inclined to playing rhythm guitar), but I still love playing my guitar, even though I don't get around to it as much as I'd like. I'd love to play guitar in a band.

My current guitar is a Fender Mexican '62 Reissue Strat. Got a reverse headstock and is off-white; I think it's supposed to look like a Hendrix guitar. It doesn't, but it's a beautiful thing :) Got it for £300 too, bargain! It looks like this:

I'd love to upgrade the pickups in it eventually. The stock pickups sound great, but are so noisy when you're not playing. Anyone got any advice for that? I'm after a similar sound to the stock pickups: nice warm clean tones, good for bluesy crunch etc. Looked at Lace Sensor Purples but I can't find them anywhere.

I'm definitely a Fender guy when it comes to guitars. I'd love a nice Telecaster some day, maybe a '72 Custom or a Thinline or something. A Godin 5th Avenue would go down nicely too!

i've owned many many guitars over the years, but the two i still have are both old Japanese Epiphones. an ET-290 and a Scroll. both are fantastic, but the Scroll sounds phenomenal. threw an old Duncan JB-J(hand wound by the woman who now runs their custom shop, maricela juarez) into the bridge position, and it can get sounds ranging from tele to les paul and everything in between. Strangely enough, it is the smaller necks that attracted me to those two in the first place.

Scroll? Is than an EC350?

I prefer Fender guitars... especially the unbound necks, and single coil pickups. I have a few other guitars but my Strat is clearly my favorite. Other people have commented that my Strat feels great and is easy to play.

I also like the snarly sound of the SG, but I don't own one.

Duh... I was thinking SC-350. But since I had the latest Vintage Guitar laying here with Clapton on the cover...

Years AgoTM​ I went into Kay's Music Shop in Okolona KY to buy a set of guitar strings and walked out with a brand spanking new Epiphone SC-350. It was the first QUALITY Japanese Epi. The neck on that thing was awsome.

But I noticed the bridge pickup was a bit weaker that I was used to. So I decided to remove the cover, hoping for a little more gain, only to discover there was only a single coil bobbin under that humbucking cover.
So I replaced it with a spare Gibson Humbucking that I had left over from a previous product.
That was one of my favorite guitars for years. I finally sold it to a buddy to use in his studio. It was great for recording.
That guitar would just sing. I've never seen one since and I most players have never even heard of them.

they are definitely few and far between. most people who have them won't sell them, and for good reason. they are fantastic players and sounds pretty incredible.
