A beer related question/coment

Just tried Double Dog Double IPA. Wow. This is the hoppiest thing to ever grace my palette! I really enjoy pale ales, and I enjoy most IPAs. If you are on the left coast, this shouldn't be too hard to find- give it a shot if you want a (incredibly) hoppy beer.

Does anyone here enjoy this style of beer? Any recommendations?

If you are looking for a really hoppy double IPA, you should try Stone's Ruination. It has over 100 IBUs but is still plenty drinkable.

It isn't my favorite double IPA though. Hard to find out here, but Dogfish head's 90 minute IPA is really good. My favorite double IPA though, is Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewing. The brewery is about 20 minutes from my brother's house so I hit it a couple times a year. Fantastic stuff, but I have no idea what its availability is like, especially outside of California.

If I had to pick one style of beer to drink for the rest of my life, it'd probably be IPA. It's one of my favorite styles to brew since you can get so nuts with the different hop varieties. My commercially available favorites are Breckenridge Small Batch 471 and Great Divide Titan. I've heard great stuff about the Dogfish Head IPAs but I can't get them here.

Pliny the Elder eh? We should set up some sort of trade arrangement! Also, Stone makes THE BEST pale ale... freakin' delicious.

Shipyard, Redhook, Tremont...all make a fine IPA in a more traditional style. While they aren't usually the favorite of bona fide hop heads, they are very much in the IPA family.

When you say IPA these days, it can mean so many things that it's hard to know what people are actually talking about. Many brewers call their beer an IPA just because of the hop content and color, not to mention IBU rating.

Oh yeah. You might have to go up to Portland to find Link Removed Imperial IPA, Homo Erectus. Better yet, check out the brew pub itself, which is in Stevenson WA, about 40 minutes east of Portland.

Then there's Double Mtn. IRA ("Irish Red Ale"), which is mega-hoppy as well. Despite the name, it plays more like a classic PNW IRA, with tons of citrusy Cascade hop goodness. Not sure if they're distributing outside of the Gorge yet, but they will be soon I'm sure. They're in Hood River OR.
