A costly night... GK went boom!

Some people go 100% GK (amps and cabs) while others like to mix and match. I like the sound of my GK gear through Avatar neo cabinets and also DI'd to a board. I've also had ZERO issues with reliability and have owned several GK amps over the course of 10 years. The BL600 was sold and a Fusion 550 were sold, but not because of reliability issues. I still have my MB200 and 700RB-II going strong.
I'm not really helping you by sing the praises of GK, but just wanted to let those browsing that GK has been a reliable brand for me. Can't say the same for Carvin or the Peavey VB-2 head

I have to say that Carvin BX700 is starting to appeal to me too. I have an old Peavey Mark VI that I can't part with, because it will be working long after I need it.
Because that's three threads out of probably hundreds of members here, and thousands of people worldwide, who own GK gear with no issues, self included. Beware of statistical happenstance and small sample sizes.
Anyway, to the OP: there are GK reps on this forum; in fact, Mr. Gallien himself is around here somewhere. I'm actually surprised one of them hasn't contacted you yet. Get in touch with GK, because they're usually very good about supporting their gear, past or present.
Another staunch defender. Glad you like GL gear. In any event, if you want to talk statistics, for every one person that reports 3 are sitting behind them with the same story, and those 3 create 10 people that tell someone else. IMO GK has too many problems to ignore. I don't care how great their support is, I want a good product from the beginning.

You're wrong. Look how many failed GK threads have come up here in the last few days. if you search you find just as many threads on just about any make. hell look at how many bad fender threads you see. the negative threads tend to get more participation.
Then you may as well sell your gear and never play bass again, because every brand has its bad stories.
I also have to note that most of the bad GK gear mentioned is older gear. Amps are like any other machine; sooner or later, they have issues, often strongly related to how well they are treated over time.
I personally don't see that to be true, I see a lot of GK failures threads here.
I've been playing for 25 years, and nothing I've ever had has ever failed. I've owned Peavey, Eden, Hartke, Avatar, TC and Aguilar and nothing has ever failed me up to this point yet.
It does look nice but the fact it's taller than 1 RU is kinda lame. The only other is that I'm used to a bridged stereo PA at 1000W 4ohms so I'm not so sure a mono 550w 4ohms is going to cut the mustard.
Eh, not to be confrontational but I find that rather hard to believe. Either that or you only play in your studio/home. Never a single dirty pot, dead power converter, bad solder or dead cable? EVER?

How does having a multi-meter help the OP? You have to know how to use it, what to measure, how the circuits work, and what the results mean before it has any value at all.

Are you referring to the two recent threads about the guy that bought his 800RB at a Goodwill or the one where someone was expecting his 140 MB combo to compete in a live band gigging context? You really have to parse unreasonable expectations from legitimate mechanical failures.
Never once did I want this to be a bash GK thread. Just a what would you do with some blown up gear. I have a mb500 and a small backline 110 that I really like for practice.
Just frustrated and admittedly having never found sound utopia with this rig I am reluctant to get it fixed when I can use those $$$ on something else.
So was seeing if I was was justifying my own feelings or if others have experienced blown up gear and what they did. I have been lucky. I bought a bass amp for my high school rock band. Played clubs from California to Washington for years. I am now in my 40's and decided to get a new rig and haven't had much luck with this particular rig. Both in longevity and tone. No one has ever come up to me and said damn your bass sound is dialed. And funny enough I used to get that when I played a Megabass into a biamped 1516 cab. Who would have thought after reading these forums.
I appreciate the advice from everyone here.
