Double Bass A difficult topic...

That was a general comment if you pay attention, it was not about her specifically. And I didn't bring up the topic.

Yes, but the topic was specific to a real person in our community. We're not going to turn it into a general discussion about men and women and right and wrong and political correctness.

I'm leaving a narrow lane here. Stay in it or please stay away.

If it's a condition of employment or advancement. Word of mouth can also inflict reputational harm.

I was replying to @AndreasMccann , who wrote:
"This is when someone threatens to release intimate photos or videos of an individual unless they comply with certain demands. Everyone can be being sextorted..."

I'm merely suggesting that most instances of such "sextortion" could be avoided were people to stop taking pictures of themselves that they wouldn't want the public to see.

In the current climes, things that may have been off color humor or overly male commentary can now be viewed as harassment. Maybe it was harassment then, but things aren’t handled the same way now. There are repercussions and it has become more prudent to keep things professional and above board.. for both sexes are at risk for libelous utterances. I was told recently “it’s not what you say, it’s what you can prove.”
Lauren has a lot credibility in my mind, so I believe her. But I do believe that the world will tend to believe a woman over a man in the current political climate. This incident is now out for public consumption, but although historically women have been victimized proportionally more, in the 21st century, it would be nice to have more objectivity, more facts, more discretion, and less emotional scrutiny towards both parties. Sadly, I honestly believe this issue is handled better in some countries than here. Culturally, we are more reactionary and indignant. We pick sides very quickly and that makes things more complicated.
Keep it professional and avoid situations where you might not have the benefit of witnesses. The simple act of being complimentary can be fraught with risks these days, and we are a society divided by race, sex, politics and localities.

It seems that sexual harassment can mean quite a wide range of different things to different people. And it is a curious offense in that it is determined almost entirely upon the perception of the victim, with no consideration of the perpetrator's intent, and no comparison to a "reasonable person" standard.
That's just not correct.
There are legal definitions of what constitutes harassment in a workplace. You can look this stuff up easily.
