Hi everyone! I just had a few questions about my amp setup that I'm looking to do a few modifications to eventually.

1. I currently own a GK 700RBII (I love this amp!). My only beef is the bi-amp feature, which I never really care to use. That being said, if I run the speakers in mono (Non bi-amp? Not sure what to call this.), will I actually get 530 Watts of power? Or will I only be pushing 480 Watts? (If I recall correctly, the specs say it's 480 Watts to the woofers and 50 Watts to the horn).

2. I also own a Fender Pro 210, and it's the only cab I have. I had an Ampeg 410, but I felt like it was rubbish in comparison. However, I digress. Ideally, I'd like to sell the Fender at some point and purchase an Avatar 210 and and a Avatar 212 that I can use together for outdoor gigs or anywhere that I need some more sound. Will fourty-four inches of sound be overkill, sufficient for my needs, or not enough? Generally, I only play jazz, funk, and rock, but you never kno when a metal gig might come along.. :P

3. Alongside number 2, if you don't feel like that setup is a good choice, do you have any recommendations?

No you can Not Run the 2 amps together in Bridge Mode...you will fry something!! and also the 50 watts amp is only a High Frequency Amp so even if you were able to just run it alone into an speaker cab it would sound like Crap cause it is crossed over at 5kHz...so yeah there would be no bass at all in that sound!! And Here this is from GK them Selfs!!

SHOULD THE WOOFER/MAIN AMP AND
THE 50 WATT HORN AMP BE CONNECTED
TOGETHER!!!

As for the Speaker Combination you are asking about...for me i have found it works the Best if i have a Cab That Sound Awesome....dont care what kind it is....and you want to add another Cab...if you are happy with the sound of the one you have get another one of the same...i have never liked mix matching speakers....it does not always work out.to be the best it is kinda a hit and miss at time...i like lots of the same...always sounds better i find!! As For me I play Jazz/Funk Fusion, Moetown and Black Gospel and i dont thing there is such a thing as over kill in my Books. i have a 410 cab and an 810 cab....i end up using the 810 the most...i just like the sound quality and low end i get out of it...yeah it is big...but just because it is big does not mean it has to be loud there is such a thing as a Volume Knob and i think people forget what it is there for!! I always like having way more then i need then not enough!!....and yeah i dont have to be loud but i have a real filling sound!! All The Best!!Cheers Mate!!~Elliot

With a non-GK cab, you are not getting any watts at all out of the horn channel....you have to use a GK cab and a 4 conductor Speakon cable.

If you don't use the 50 Watts (which u r not) then you get 480 in the low range into a 4 ohm cab.

Consider getting a Neo 212-II. Their horn sounds better than the MBE series and they are a bit more rugged....and they weigh a bit more and cost a bit more.

If you really don't care about the horn channel at all, you might also consider a Mesa PH212. More weight and cost than the Neo.

I use the 700rb-ii with two of the gk Neo 112's. It sounds real good and with the cabs weighing in at about 30lbs each it is a very portable setup. You can usually find them for sale on this site. I noticed some on eBay right now or try RMC Audio. Good luck.
