A GK 700RBii question or two

Two questions. I've got the 700RBii + 210RBH cabinet which I love. No problems there.

I hooked things up last night with the special GK 4 conductor bi-amp cable, and nothing. No sound, nothing. Took that off and used a 1/4" speaker cord, and it works fine. I had both woofer and tweeter knobs set at about noon, and was using the input volume pot to try to regulate the volume. Even with input volume at noon, there was no sound at all. This seems like the cable must have gone south, but unless both woofer and tweeter conductor pairs failed simultaneously shouldn't I have gotten SOMETHING?

Second question. Now that I have to use the 1/4" cable for at least the short term, I believe that now only Woofer affects overall amp volume, right? Should I turn down Tweeter to zero since its not being used? Or does it matter?

EDITED TO ADD: I did try both sockets on the amp, so I think its not a socket issue.

I don't know about the first question as I've never used Speakon cables for mine, but as for question two - you are correct. With the jack speaker outs you are only using the main amp and therefore only the woofer control has any effect. As the tweeter control is effectively disabled, I don't imagine it makes any difference whatever level it's set to.

I do however keep my tweeter level at zero, for what it's worth.

I was fully prepared to accept my stupidity in public if that was set wrong, but the switch is on bi-amp. I hadn't touched this cabinet since my last gig a couple weeks ago, and it (and the speakon cable) worked fine then.

Pretty sure the switch on the cab just affects the horn, Biamp= horn connected to the 2+,2- of the speakon, in Full range= horn connects to the crossover. Either the cable lost connection (unscrew the collars and check both ends for loose wires/clamp screws) or the input panel board got damaged in the cab (speakon could have been smacked good on transport). There is not a lot of signal from the horn with bass gautar so use an MP3 or skinny string to check horn operation (Tweeter master only in Biamp mode).
