A Hum-less jazz bass??

I have this exact pickup on the bridge position of my beater PJ bass.
It was cheap, it is quiet and sounds pretty darned good, not the same as a true single coil, it has less bite or attack to the notes, but I like the mellower, "sweet" sound it gives. And no hum!!

Thank you for that endorsement, Bass4Brkfast. The reviews I've read are surprisingly positive for something priced so reasonably. Geez, $75 for a set of two, and I can even pick from black, cream, or white colored covers and have my choice of screw colors as well. How does the pickup's output compare to anything else you've had on the PJ?

I have a 1989 Longhorn Jazz Bass with Aguilar AG4J-HC pickups (No Hum) and a 2001 Fretless Fender Standard Jazz Bass with Nordstrand NJ4SE pickups (No Hum) see pics.

There are tons of split coil pup jazz basses and none of them sound quite like single coil models. They don't sound bad, they just sound different.

I prefer the sound of single coil pickups to the sound of split coils and I have found that if I get some hum coming from my bass that if I move a certain way or place my body and my bass in a certain position that the hum will go away or at least diminish somewhat. My bandmates enjoy watching this display whenever it happens. OTOH I have found EMG Jazz bass pickups to be dead quiet.

Thanks, guys, for all your advice. Actually, the stock pickups on this little bass sound really good. I played around on it for a while today and was impressed again with both the tone and the gain of these pickups. Maybe it's a compromise, but in the end, I guess I gotta say that great tone trumps a little bit of hum.

No worries, did you have the Dimarzio Area J in the shootout? If so how did it sound in the comparison to others? Can you give us a conclusion and list of what you tried?
