A little buzz when I release the string.

When I release the string with my left hand there is often a tiny buzz, very short, from the fret. Very irritating! Do someone know the technique to work that away?

If it's the note before a rest, no. Otherwise, synchronize the following note to begin at the same time as you lift your finger from the preceding note.

But, as you say, it's a tiny buzz and very short. If you have the chance to hear bass lines soloed, they're often full of noise - squeaks, clanks, buzzes - even from very good players. In an ensemble context, these noises are not noticed.

I got rid of my buzzing with flatwound strings and some foam rubber under the strings at the bridge. Plus this gets me close to an upright sound which I'm looking for. I use the foam rubber from a foam rubber paint brush, cut to size, doubled and scored with a razor so the strings fit down into the foam.

Some use a hair hoottie (sp). Of course good technique cures the problem correctly.

I use the side of my hand to press firmley over the strings right on top of the bridge and play with the thumb. This teq makes it much easier to change the amount of ”acoustic” sound. Works fine with roundwound(?) strings.
