A Mafia game

Something I've wanted to try for a while. It's a game that was developed for forums, called Mafia. Here's how it goes....

Approximately 20 people are needed (but more or less will still work). If 20 join, then 5 are Mafia members while the rest are people in the local village. The Mafia have the ability to kill of other players. The way this is done is the Mafia have 12 hours to PM the narrator (me) and say which village member they want killed. After the announcement is made in the thread, open discussion is allowed between everyone (village people and the Mafia, who are pretending to be village members) to debate who they think may be a Mafia. Open discussion lasts for 24 hours. At the end of that, they must choose one person who they think is a Mafia hitman, and that person is removed, and must then reveal what they really were. This cycle continues until either all Mafia have been removed, or all the villagers.

So, my question is, does this sound like someone everyone would be willing to try?

If the answer is yes, I'll begin a new thread for the game to take place in.

If no, then ah well.

In reply to the OP: I played this game when I was in Boy Scouts. It was interesting at first, but they played it over and over and over until our troop was known as the Mafia troop.

That said, it's been a few years. I could be down for such a thing.

Have you ever tried the online version though? Its better because the Mafia can freely talk amongst each other instead of gesturing.

I propose a slightly different version where, in place of villagers and hitmen, you have members and moderators. All results are final.
