  1. Hello there,
I´m sure no one have asked for something like this before but... I need your help, as you probably have more experience than me.
I´m going to buy a Fender Jazz Bass from this guy (seem honest) but after hearing all the stuff about fake JB´s, im a bit scared.
He said it cost im about 2700 euros, and was selling it for 900€ and now for 700€. Is an American Standard from 2000-2001 limited edition (i havent seen any 2000-2001limited edition)
    Here are the pics:

Nice looking bass. The serial number dates to a 2000 to 2001 American Made. I do not see anything that makes me think that it is not authentic. Buy it.

Looks great, really like that color!

Looks exactly like my buddies MIM -----------DON'T let that scare you, I'm no judge on what's real or not.

If I had to say, I go with yes, it looks fine, minus the funny looking string ends not where they're supposed to be.

Definitely one sexy bass, I'm envious!

That looks like the Fender case that came with the 2000 models.

Did 2000-2001 MIA basses have string through bridge? Would that help confirm for the buyer that it is MIA? I'm not exactly a Fender aficionado so I could be a bit off target on this one.

Was that colour available in 2000-2001 USA Jazz basses?

Not to raise any flags, but I have seen a lot more funky colour Fenders in the mid-late 90's than '00s.

The only ones using that stringthru system after those ones (with ordinary tinfoil bridge) are MIM Precision jr. (a 28,60" scale reproduction with real alder body, regular split pickup and string spacin') and Mark Hoppus signature Jazz, with Precision neck and reversed Seymour Duncan SPB3 Quarter Pound split pickup.

My 2000 MIA Precision is string through body.
  13. It appears to be a 2000-2001 American standard jazz bass (regarding the serial number), the owner told me it was a 50 aniversary reedition and bought it after a sonic youth concert in gran canaria where kim gordon was playing it, but as far as i know it would have the brigde protection metal cover, wouldn´t it?
I think its a kind of 70´s jazz bass reedition, but I don´t know what model came out in 2000-2001.
    Any idea?
  14. Happy new year, folks.
    I finally got it!

No, it would not have any 'ash tray' covers for the bridge or the the neck pickup. Fender moved away from that feature on their American/U.S. ' Standard ' J-Basses some years before this bass was made. The covers however were/are part of the case candy for their various vintage reissues where it's appropriate as an user-optional vintage correct feature. Also congrats on your new bass, if I read your most recent post correctly.
  16. Thanks Mr Thumpbass1, you did.
