But I wonder why your bass protests so much when you drop tune? Maybe you need to run higher action, or go with heavier strings.

Also this: Instead of another bass, first thing is get a nice hardshell case for your SX.

Yeah I'm gonna have to get 2 cases since these babies are coming back to Rhode Island with me in June.

That's what I was wondering too...It buzzes to high heavens on the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th, 9th, 10th and 11th fret only in drop tuning. I have Fender super bass strings on it now. I think it has something to do with the frets and them needing to be leveled, no? Plus I NEED low action on a bass. I highly doubt my hands will ever be strong enough again to push down a 130 gauge bass string that's got high action on it. That or I can just play quieter but then it gets kinda boring lol.

You'll score BIG points on the home front for wanting to protect your wife's gift to you, and just as important, to protect it from the aforementioned demon cat.

Yes needless to say I keep my 5 string in another room where he can never go in and the 4 string Jazz will be going in there as well.
