A place to dump recordings

I'm hoping to find a website that i can load an SD card worth of recorded rehearsals/writing sessions. One that can be accessed by anyone in the band. Surely something like this exists, but I wouldn't know what to search.
Where can I find something like that?

Pretty much. Typically you don’t all share one password. You create an account using your email address and then invite others via their email address. Everyone has their own account.

Soundcloud is what I’m using. I’m pretty techy but I find the DropBox UI pretty clunky. And there was a time where their app monitored folders on your hard drive. No thanks.

I use Soundcloud myself, don't know why I didn't think of it for this.

Maybe a private SoundCloud would work. We've been using garage band, but having to edit everything down is a time killer. We use a tascam stereo recorder to record with and end up with 2-2:30 hours of recordings.

Even our guitarist can access them (and you won't find a bigger technophobe than him).

TL;DR
Record rehearsal/gig on handheld recorder as .wav file
Transfer files to PC
Edit out individual songs
Convert to .mp3
Copy to Dropbox


Long version
I use a Tascam DR-40 stopping the recorder every few songs to keep file sizes manageable, taking notes of what songs are in which files. The better the notes I take the quicker the editing is.

I upload the files to my PC and edit out the best take (using Audacity) so you don't have to listen to all the chat. Starting at the last file (for rehearsals) and working towards the first as the best takes are usually the last ones.

I then convert the individual .wav files to .mp3 (using Sound Converter), put them in a folder titled Band_Name_YYMMDD (date in reverse order so they appear in chronological order).

Lastly I copy this folder to Dropbox. Don't drag and drop it because another band member my drag and drop it from their Dropbox folder so deleting it from Dropbox. (Our drummer did this the first time but I had kept a copy.)

Hope you followed all that. It took me a while to get the method sorted out but now editing a rehearsal or gig takes me a few minutes.

That's an optional function. You don't have to use it if you don't want. I have mine setup for manual web-access only.

Yea, it took me a few rehearsals before I got the method down.

Something I forgot to say was that I record in mono so it cuts file sizes in half.

Soundcloud or bandcamp would work. Fast and Easy to upload, and fast and easy to download.
