A question about pop up/banner ads here...

Do the site administrators/owners have any say, control, or stipulations as to the content/vendors/products in the ad space made available here? For instance, right now as I type this, there was a Sweetwater ad above the composition box, then it turned into a DR ad, and currently it's all about movie subscriptions. Fair enough. I know it changes from page to page, hit by hit, and I'm certainly aware of geocasting and all that, but there have been a number of non-music related things that have come up, many times creepily related to off-topic subjects being discussed, but without me making any comments to trigger anything.

The internet is a marketers dream.
No longer do they have to blindly guess at our interest.
Now there is software that can, by algorithm, misinterpret what we type or click.
Ain’t technology wonderful?

As to the original question, I’d suggest contacting those who run TB and have that conversation with them.
You’ll get your answer and they may be interested in knowing how you feel about it.
Otherwise, you can always push the DON’T CARE button.

How about this good ad combo?

There are currently 19 robots wandering around TalkBass, gleaning information on what the best pop up ad for metal is. I doubt they are aimlessly wandering around looking for something to do. As a Gold Supporting Menber, you don't see any of that unless someone starts a thread.

Fixed. :D
