A question for the 6x10 guys

because ive been gassing over it for years. thats the only reason i have really. the head im getting can power (4) 4 ohm cabinets so i figure i can justify it because im only using half of the heads capabilities.
I tried a bunch of 610s before buying. I didn't care for the Ampeg. I bought an SWR Goliath Sr used for $300 which I am pretty happy with. I would have thought hard about the Bergatino if I had the money, but damn it ain't cheap.

Not for me, my 610 was an old school MarkBass silverface one. I thought it was far superior to the Ampeg cabinet in every way and found it to be a much better fit with my SVT-CL, especially since I played a six string and Ampeg does not do well in the low end register. Not only did it have more definition on it's extreme lows it was only 71 pounds, lighter than my SVT. The only downside was that my cab was 6 ohms or something odd like that, it eventually burnt out a power tube with the mismatched load. I have since moved on from MarkBass, my current "big rig" is a fEARful 1212/6. Smaller than my 610 and probably about the same volume output. Tiny foot print on it makes it easier to move through a doorway than any 410 I have owned, not a cheap option though.
You didn't ask that initially though...
The HLF series seems to have a love/hate relationship around here. I haven't played one personally, but from what I've read they don't seem like they'd sound the way I want.
If I were in the market I'd be looking at the Mesa 610 or the Berg NV610

Two 610's is an interesting concept. If cost isn't a factor I think you should do it. It would look cool as hell on any stage.
Same here. I actually owned an Ampeg 410hlf and was not happy with the sound. Got rid of it and decided on getting something louder with more pronounced low mids. Tried a bunch of 610's and the Goliath Sr won. Found a one new for half price online and 10 years later been loving it ever since.
I had one and it was just eh. I find that the HLF get very boomy very quickly and it can be difficult to strike the right balance between good lows and good definition with those cabs. I used mine with an SVT-CL and a vintage V4 and with both of those amps I preferred my other cabs. YMMV.
Yeah, I've never gotten the "aren't you worried about the weight on your car?" thing, either. As big and heavy as my 2x15 is, it's not heavier than I am, and it would be a pretty pathetic car if having a dude my size in the back seat broke it.
The only way I've had luck with them is stacking. It uncouples the top box from the floor and fills out the mid frequencies that seem to be missing from the bottom cab. Even though they're the same cab they sound really different from each other stacked. But alone, its tough to deal with for me. But stacked, Massive! Made my 810e sound, well, not quite as massive.
The one at the rehearsal space does not like my bass and amp. Sounds like farts. At first I was surprised and worried I was damaging it. But no, that's just what my overdrive sounds like through the 410HLF. Like a wet fart.
I've been using a 6x10 hlf for years. I love the sound. Great cabs. I've owned 3 of them and I prefer them over the 8x10s. The tweeter is nice too. To each his own though. Not every cab is going to be great for every player/playing style. However, if you're a strong dude, the 6x10 is definitely doable up a flight of stairs by yourself. It sucks, but it's way better than an 8x10. And I believe the 4x10's are a little deeper than both 8x10 and 6x10, thus making them a little awkward to carry.

My Schoerder 6 10 fits in the back of my Scion. Easily.
