A rare find at Guitar Center

In most cities, anyone who accepts used items for trade outright purchase are required to have the seller/trader fill out a form or card with their personal info and sign a statement saying they legally own it and can sell it, as well as that they didn't find it, somewhere. These are kept on-site, in case an item is reported stolen and the police show up to look for it. It's not new, either- I worked for a music store in the early-mid '70s and we occasionally helped recover stolen goods. Also, a dealer who buys used items and takes trade-ins is considered a 'pawn-broker' in some places.

Dealers, myself included and especially GC check every sellers id and track it. Laws depending on state are different and you better believe its adhered to or were out of business... This is a cool thread but BEFORE you say HOT or Stolen, be responcible especially if your jumpin on the band wagon without ANY FACTS.

Ever have a bass stolen - it aint fun. Putting doubt on a members purchase - not cool...

Quite often here on TB you'll find that waiting for facts isn't the chosen path for some. I'd hope they'd realize what they're doing but its been that way for long time.

I have come across the most wonderful things when I wasn't particularly searching - my wife, basses, my house.

Congrats on the find. She's gorgeous! (or is it a he?)

Don't know if it has been mentioned in this long thread, but the wood choices are very Doug Irwin/Jerry Garcia-ish. Wolf had a purpleheart center, and almost all of Jerry's guitars after that had cocobolo fronts and backs ("hippie sandwich" construction). I have a Tiger tribute with cocobolo top and back- love the cocobolo! Great find!

I just got a German warwick thumb that they miss priced for 600. However I don't really care for it so it's going back tomorrow. Still good deal
