Not only a transformer, but also rectifiers that convert the AC to DC (all gear runs on DC), capacitors to filter that DC, and voltage regulators to stabilize the DC. If you wonder if your amp really needs 'conditioned' power ask QSC, or any other high-end manufacturer. They'll say no.Some EE needs to chime in, but it is my understanding that a power conditioner is pretty much worthless. All the power going into your amp or nearly any other 110 v musical device goes through a transformer first, which is a power conditioner in itself.
Like expensive cables and drugs to treat Restless Leg Syndrome power 'conditioners' 'fix' problems we never knew we had until these cures were concocted to treat them.
