A Shout Out To Oscar Prat

J - I went to the video link. even thoughb the audio quality is limited on the youtube vid, I can appreciate the voice of that instrument.
1 question: you have the octave courses following the bass string (on the down strum). On my 8 I went with the octave first and then the bass string. was that your choice and why? just curious

Also - I can appreciate the short scale - way too many people overlook the playability of a shoty espescially in an extended range.

Good luck with her!

Thank you for taking the time to give that clip a listen.

Having it set up like that works best for me and it's more natural for my finger style approach. I rather come across the octave strings with my fingers first before I get to the standard string, it really works better for me in that regard and when I thump the E and A strings I'm getting the meat of the sound because my thumb is coming down as if I'm thumping a more traditional bass.

For me some short scale basses have, for lack of a better description a creamier sound and the notes just have a blossoming effect that I like. I chose to have this 15 string made with a 32" scale for those reasons and because if it was a standard scale the headstock would be to long for pretty much all gig bags.

Good luck with her!

Thank you so much.

It’s great that you’ve been so happy with this bass!
It sure seems to be a singular instrument!

I’m having a ball with my LeCompte 6x2 12ver.
I didn’t realize there can be so many approaches to a multi-course instrument beyond just adding octaves to the voicing!
I’ll admit that for some fingerstyle chords, having the heavy string on top would be nice.

QUESTION:
I remember you concieved the adjustable triple course saddle concept to avoid harmonic cancellation with the two alike paired strings;
How did you have the triple saddles set up when it was calibrated?
