Inlay is not an Inlay

I saw them play a festival as a teen and my brother asked something to the effect of "Why does the guy keep yelling about how this isn't Chicago?"
It'll never fall out.
The straight lines on the closeup look like lines from abrasives rather than wood grain.
Those kind of lines show up much more on dark material than light or neutral material.
It also looks like the inlay was glued in with colored epoxy or CA to fill any gaps around the inlay. Standard practice in some shops.
