A single 10" cab?

Thinking of getting a practice rig. Looking at a single 110 cab 4 ohms @ 200 watts with a 250 watt @ 4 ohms head. Ampeg PortaBass stuff. Never played one and am wondering if anyone has. Can I expect a good tone at low volume with good low end bass out of it and would it keep up with a drummer in a basement rehearsal space.

I can't comment on the PortaBass, but 110 cabs can sound really sweet. I'm an Epifani fan and their 110 is my favorite. It's great for home use and for small, low volume gigs. Keeping up with a heavy handed drummer would be a problem, IMO. For that reason, an 8 ohm 110 is a good idea. Add a second 110 (or 112) when you need it and really pump out your amp at 4 ohms through two speakers.

You may want to look at the HyDrive 112 - Bass Cabinet from Harke, switchable 4/8 ohm. Gives you lots of flexibility as you add cabs. Played one and I loved it.
