A soundman's rant to younger players.

It's not hating younger guys, more overzealous ranting at less experienced players. Unfortunately, by default the less experienced guys tend to be youngsters. Age and experience and all that.
I beg to differ. IMO most don't "get it" and age doesn't usually come into play. It's all over the place.
I don't get the boosting too much lows thing? Leann Rime's live bassist says he boosts his lows max on his on board pre, and cuts all the treble and the sound guys says he doesn't even touch the eq and it sounds amazing.
And he probably is also playing for thousands of people through a $250,000.00 PA most the time. Big difference from the guy playing to a hundred people with a POS PA.
What can we conclude with this ?
My conclusions ;
-PA has no low/low mid so the guy has to boost the lows to get something happening that's why he's happy with this type of signal.
-Soundman does not tune his kit.
-Soundman/Band loves a muddy low end sound.
-Soundman is hired by the band and won't never criticize the band's signals.
