I've seen both and IMO they are both thoroughly mediocre. My prediction is that no one will remember either one in 4 years.

Gaga is a talent, no question.

But I still cannot comprehend why director Bradley Cooper cast himself in the lead role and then attempted to mock the voice Sam Elliott, the king of the super-deep pipes... AND THEN CAST SAM ELLIOTT IN THE SAME FILM??? Watching the two of them do scenes together is just laughable. Elliott vs. lame imitation of Elliott going face to face! Hahaha!!! :roflmao:

The deep voice try by Cooper wasn't necessary whatsoever... he should've just gone with his regular voice. Der.

There's no hate. I think this is an excellent musician and an okay one who put on a garbage performance of a song they know well and rehearsed. Where's the hate? Why is it that a negative critique is so often dismissed as a hateful overreaction? Now that's baffling.

I thought the performance was only fair.
Clearly singing isn't Bradley's main strength and I'd imagine he probably doesn't put the care in to maintaining his singing chops as a 'real' singer would.
As for Lady Gaga, I was a bit disappointed in her performance...I think she's one of the great talents of our time.

There was certainly some chemistry there too...or perhaps just some good acting.:)

Reminded me a little of this...

I really enjoyed their performance...and took me back to the movie, which i think is beautiful.
I really enjoyed Bradley and Gagas acting and thought it was a perfect match

Never seen the previous movies of Star is Born

Gaga and BC's performance at the Oscars was good... far more entertaining, for me, than the movie, which fell short and was full of oddities.

For example, Dave Chappelle's appearance was an odd choice. I love Chappelle... but why bother casting one of the hottest comedians of the day for such a small, insignificant role in this flick? BC could've cast a no-name and the overall effect would've been the same.

What brand of bass is it when she does her first singing on stage with Jack? The headstock is in frame almost the entire time. It looked like they may have blurred the logo even a bit more than it was already slightly out of focus.
It is a Fender-like headstock with a cicular logo near the end.

Late to this thread and to the film - saw it for the first time on Netflix last night. As a Yamaha fan I recognised the headstock and logo immediately - it's a Yamaha BB Current Series. My guess is it's their top of the range P34:
