We have a couple of these Golden Collection sets on DVD (volumes 1 and 2, I believe). I introduced them to our son when he was younger, and he couldn't get enough. They're still hilarious.

We have a couple of these Golden Collection sets on DVD (volumes 1 and 2, I believe). I introduced them to our son when he was younger, and he couldn't get enough. They're still hilarious.

Caught War Machine on Netflix, meh.
For all its military trappings the "Rangers" didn't act like soldiers in hostile territory. One of the many plot problems with this action ScFi film. The Reacher guy is formidable but the Alien monster was a transformer robot on two mechanical legs

This kind of movie is popular these days. They all are based on very basic emotional elements and rely heavily on the cult personality thing of the protagonist or villain to impress the viewer. Think I'm canceling my Netflix account after this POS.

Finally finishing up watching Archer. Wrapped up season 11, and they still manage to make sly references to Frisky Dingo. Love that show so much. Archer has lost a little bit of its edge, but it's still better than most TV I've seen recently.
At this point I had to customize mine so I have options like "the entire writer's room farts into a mic and has AI make a script out of it" because this season is effing pathetic and clearly the show runner has pics of Gabriel doing some horrific poopie or he'd be doing literally anything else.
I actually don't agree at all, I've thoroughly enjoyed this season. Given the song Panopticon on his last album, his presence makes some sense, but I haven't quite figured it out yet. It was surprising enough I really want to know why he agreed to do it. Something in the show means something to him.
Love that film - and the whole 70s run of that, The French Connection, Dog Day Afternoon and, in particular, The Conversation. And Taxi Driver for good measure.
Road to Perdition.
I was feeling good after Serpico so gave this one a shot. I'm mostly indifferent on Tom Hanks, so I wasn't so sure how I'd like this movie. While I don't think he was the right guy for this role, I enjoyed the movie overall. I just can't picture Tom Hanks as a mob enforcer running around killing people.

Spoiler alert for Road to Perdition. Yeah, I know it's been out forever, but I just watched it tonight for the first time.....
By the way, I 100% knew Jude Law was going to kill him after he left him at the hotel. I had to say it to myself since I was watching alone, ha, but I said 'Law's going to get his picture'. I was just wrong on my timing. I thought it was going to happen after he gunned down Rooney in the street. When they went to the beach house, I sat there all tense waiting for the gunshot, then it came sadly.

Also I started two new shows on the plane home from Mexico City over the weekend -
Masters of the Air, which any fan of Band of Brothers will probably like. It's about B-17 bombers in WWII.
And Duster, about a wheelman in the 1970s who drives for a local crime boss under investigation by the FBI.
I like them both and will be continuing them at home, assuming they're on the streaming services we currently have subscriptions for...
Masters of the Air is on Apple. It's ok but never connected for me like Band or Brothers. I'd put it third after BoB and The Pacific. Still worth the time as those obviously set a high bar.
I have nothing but respect for your choice of variety or joy effects and synth choices but Slio s03 is 17 silos full of human poopie.
I really enjoyed BoB but didn't connect with the Pacific. We'll see how Masters.. does for me.
BoB is easily the strongest of the trilogy IMO.
Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter ( - "our mothers, our fathers" - I think "Generation War" in English) is worth the watch for the view from the other side.
I think the in silo part is still good, if not the story I wanted them to tell. They seem to have given the "Present time" part to the B group of writers. Pretty much garbage, never setting up the characters and relationships to make the final part of the story work.
