Ok, I figured out how to make my EHX Green Russian Re-issue sound great, adjust volume as needed, turn the tune knob all the way to the bass side counterclockwise, and the sustain knob all the way up clockwise. It's great, I love it, any other setting and it doesn't sound right for me.

I should give it a go with my Russian Pickle. I found those two pedals nearly identical (for obvious reasons). My gut says those settings will be terrible for me, but you never know until you try...

From looking at your fuzz pedal thread, you like a different sound than me (that's from description, but who knows!) but you may find it pleasant. I have only tried 2 fuzz pedals, this one and the Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie B which I have on my board as well, which I purchased when I thought I lost my Green Russian in a house move.

I'm not sure if there are any Mastodon fans around here, but they've got Geezer Butler playing on this one:

I'm re-discovering them after about 20 years. Used to enjoy Remission, didn't really "get" much of their stuff for a while after that and then they fell off my radar. Just re-listened to a lot of their stuff recently. I'm digging their more recent proggy stuff. Hushed and Grim may be my favorite album of theirs, but I hear pretty much nothing about it.

Also - anything with Geezer is welcome and appreciated. I knew he played on the new album, and will certainly give that a listen.

Crack the Skye is still my #1 - saw them on that tour with Dethklok and it was an outstanding show. I want to say that Converge opened as well, but I may be hallucinating that one.

I managed to catch Mastodon twice: once in 2012-ish with Opeth and Ghost, and more recently with Gojira. They were great both times but this last time they were very locked in.

From a gear standpoint, I got a Reverend Triad 5 in army green this week. Wasn't sure how the neck would feel given my past iffy experience with their 4 string basses, but the 5 has a nice profile. And the pickups are very hot to the point where it almost sounds like playing a T-Bird in some ways. It's a very good bass though and it does a close approximation of a Gibson G-III but with more lows and low mids.
