A tone thread with example

I'm currently trying to get my scheter extreme 4 in the ballpark of this tone. I love the sound but dont know how to achieve it.
I believe I've heard him say he uses dunlop super brights on that bass.
Whatever it is its killer.

The Schecter Extreme 4 has an active 2 band preamp and humbuckers. You can probably dial in something similar to his tone there, but unlikely you're going to get entirely into the ball park of a passive jazz (2 singles) just by changing your strings. I'm not pooh-poohing it, but just saying you'll probably need to consider, and fiddle with, your entire signal chain to emulate something similar.

Oh no doubt. I mentioned the strings as it was the one piece of the puzzle I was aware of. I practice through studio monitors using a di and have a very extensive amount of processing available. Just looking for the path of least resistance. Seeking a tone can become a rabbit hole if you let it.

I think his tone is more about the J pickups and Flat Response Buffered Preamp in his Invalid Link Removed bass. If I'm reading the specs right anyway.

Maybe aim for the best J-ish studio clean tone you can coax out of your current setup, along with an outboard clean buffer preamp?
