I've been a Talkbass addict for what seems like an eternity, but never introduced myself here. I'm about to post my first build thread in the Luthiers' Corner section, so I thought I'd better do the honours here......
I started lurking around the general bass guitar forums years ago when I first started playing bass - at the age of 34. I started playing piano at 6, moved to the cornet then the French Horn, but always had the notion of playing bass guitar after my (cool, slightly older) Spanish cousin was in a punk band, even made it into the Spanish charts. So eventually I bought a Precision (or more accurately bought a Jazz, hated it, returned it and swapped it for a beautiful Daphne Blue Highway One) and started on my bass journey. It's been a slightly rocky road (I suffer from tendinitis) but there's something about the bass, it's inherent coolness, that just speaks to me.
I now mostly lurk in the Luthiers' Corner, building bass guitars in my spare time. I cannot say how much I value the advice and experience that can be found there. It's a humbling experience to encounter such experienced craftsmen so free and willing to share their time and experience. The internet seems to have cheapened so much of human experience but at the same time has made possible this incredible resource. So thanks to you all!
Oh, and I'm based in Nottingham, England. Home of Robin Hood, Lord Byron and ummm.....and....well surely that's enough.
