ive used Marcus Miller Fat Beams by DR for a while, and theyve lasted 2 months a pop, then 1 month, now....... i had them on for a WEEK and a HALF, and they were D-E-A-D. i dont know if this if funny or just plain sad (keeping in mind that I even used STRING WIPES to keep them clean) is this funny or sad?

Maybe it's the salt or acids from your hands. I've got a mix of High Beams and Fat Beams on my fleet I installed last March/April when I went recording, and they still sound very crisp and growly. I have a can of Wonder Wipes, but I rarely ever wiped them down...like maybe twice.

You're living up to your name....brutal!

ehh soap makes it sticky and rough so watch out

Umm... that's why you rinse your hands off. :eyebrow:

That's weird, I used to play those and they'd last me like 6-8 months a set on average.

I guess it depends on your idea of "good tone." I personally can't stand the sound of super bright new strings, some people love it. My strings are pushing 5-6 months right now.

are you playing more these days? before i got really involved with my band, my strings used to last around 4 months of bright, the last set i bought only lasted 1 month of brightness, but it is because we rehearse 6 hours daily, 3 days a week, and our practice are very intense
