Abelton Live 9 - recording help!

Friends,

I have Abelton Live 9 and am trying to record a bass track for a song my buddy sent me. He sent me a .WAV file with guitar, drums and vocals.

Is there a simple explanation/tutorial that explains how to play along with the recording and record my bass line?

I can play along to practice but can’t figure out how to record the line.

Help an old dog learn a new trick!

Thanks!

I don't want to be insulting .. but have you put the .WAV in one track and created a 2nd track for your bass line ?
The .WAV goes in one track, your bass line goes in the other ... then you follow what seamonkey said about "arming" the bass track for recording. You record your bass line until you are happy with it ... then you can either just send your friend the bass track as a .WAV or render both tracks together as a single .WAV ... or whatever your songwriting friend wants from you.

good luck
