i tried to search this up, with little results....
I have a decent load of cassette recordings from jam sessions, and also a few pro/comercial recordings that I’d like to transfer to digital.
EQUIPMENT
Decent quality cassette deck
Scarlett Solo
Ableton Live 9 (Windows 10)
PLAN
Cassette deck out via R/L RCA lead into a TRS.
TRS side of the cable goes into the instrument channel on the Scarlett Solo.
Solo to my laptop to record using Ableton.
PROBLEM
Recording sounds lifeless and honestly induce ear fatigue pretty readily. The original recording sounds just fine. My copies are very anemic sounding.
MY CONCLUSION (so far)
I have inadequate knowledge of Ableton. Hoping someone can tell me the right direction.
I was thinking that as un-filtered/altered as possible was the way to go, since the original engineering on the original cassette recording was fine. What am I not doing right?
