After four years from the stage, the trio I’m playing with returned for an opening spot last night at XBK in Des Moines. It’s a great venue. We played a 40 minute set and received a warm welcome from the crowd.
I played my NS NXT through my LR Baggs Venue DI directly to the soundboard. Monitors sounded great and my buddy who captured these pics said the bass sounded deep and natural.
Sound check was at 5:15pm with doors at 7pm and our set at 8pm. As I went to pull my bass of of the NS stand, the stands tightening system basically failed and the pole dropped back down to the collapsed height. In a pinch, I pulled it back out to what I thought would be the appropriate height and wrapped about a half inch of duct tape around to keep it from sliding back into the collapsed position. It worked but the bass was unfortunately about an inch higher than I was used to.
So, I’m planning to get the upgraded stand. Are there other heavy duty stands I should be considering?
