About to pull the trigger on a CIJ P - any last thoughts?

Hey dudes.

I've got a 2007 MIM precision bass with quarter pounders and wanted a step up, that may just get me closer to the bright pick-punk tone i like, and thought the CIJ 70's Reissue P Bass may just get me closer to that with it's superior construction and pickups, etc.

I've really fallen in love with it. It's the finish i've always wanted, IMHO it has the best possible headstock decal, and some (by the sound of it) good pickups.

Im buying it on Ebay for around £600, as the seller says it might be possible to knock some money off the price (which is handy because shipping to the UK is £95!!)

I hope you agree that it's a worthy step up from the MIM, feel free to comment.

What are your thoughts? Good bass? Could do better for the money?

Well, I'm sure it'll be great, but not necessarily THAT much better than the MIM, only because a lot of MIMs are great!
But if you love it that much, I predict that you'll get all the sounds you want out of it.
Go ahead: buy it and enjoy it!

I bought a 70RI body (just like that one) that I used to part toghether a bass (matched it with a MIJ 57RI maple neck), and both parts were great. Nice finish and good machine work.

I don't think you can go wrong.

That's bada$$. You'd save a little money if you went with the 62 Reissue instead of the 70, but that's probably because the 62's are more common. Anyways, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Any idea about those pickups? It says their USA vintage, so im guessing their either

American standard
American Vintage (but which?)
American made for Fender Japan

or something..

do it! if you don't like the pups you can always put the 1/4 pounders from your MIM in

excellent choice........all my basses are white with black pickguards. its a P so its gotta be good. if ya dont get on with the p/ups, swap for seymour duncan.......cant go wrong with em imo.

Well that's the thing, i don't really want to put 1/4 pounders in there because for some reason, when i put them in my MIM, they sucked. Barely any difference ...

So maybe antiquity's or something more vintagey, less Mid-heavy, more trebley...

I dont know. We'll see when it comes to it
