AC/DC Brian Johnston going deaf!

AC/DC's vocalist has suspended their current tour as he has been told that if he continues, he will go deaf. Rumour has it that they will continue the tour with a different lead vocalist.
I had a pretty difficult time accepting Johnston as a replacement for Bon Scott, back in the day. I eventually grew to like Johnston's vocals and the way he fit into the band.
Have to wonder how much longer the band can continue with Johnston gone, the drummer in jail and Malcolm having serious health issues?

I'm not surprised. I saw AC/DC a number of times during the 80's and I have to say, they were one of the loudest bands I ever heard ( along with The Who and Kansas.)

Same here.
They played the larger arenas the handful of times I saw them in the 90's, and it was always crazy loud. I thought it was super awesome back then.

The music actually has nothing to do with his hearing problem. The eardrum was burst when he was car racing without earplugs. It's been a problem since then to a certain extent but the loud music is now causing issues.

I'm in the camp that thinks it's time to hang up the horns and bow out gracefully. Maybe one last final gig with BJ. Surely he can do it with hearing protection in his bad ear.

Ahhh...got it. That makes sense.

When I was a teenager, my Dad used to get free promo tickets to the drag races ( he worked for a major beer brewer). Part of the deal was free pit passes. I used to go down to the pit area when they were racing Funny Cars. It is beyond belief how loud those engines are. I could never imagine what it sounds like in the driver's seat of one of those contraptions.

Even the transmissions are louder in race cars due to using straight-cut rather than helical gears.
