Anyone here ever used this pickup equipment?

Here it is:
About 20 years ago, (maybe longer) I met a guy through a studio I was tracking in... if memory serves, his name was Griff Jones. Anyway, he'd come up with these piezo contact strips that when used in combination with directional condenser mics could reproduce the sound of my upright bass much more accurately than what was commercially available back then. I went out and helped demo the system for a while, and still use the same one to this day. Didn't even know AccuSound was still in business until now... I just thought his idea never caught on.
So after all this time, I've been contemplating an electronics upgrade... I'm wondering how "the newest-latest-greatest" stacks up against my antique piezo/mic system. I'm not necessarily unhappy with my prototype AccuSound... it has it's quirks, like I'd assume they all do, but a little tweak here and there (especially around 300Hz) with a parametric equalizer has kept me going.
Opinions appreciated.
