The neck looks great, and layers on the heel are a nice detail. Are they strictly cosmetic, or are they used to add depth to the neck as well?

Those were added to put some more depth on the neck as the body is deeper than normal. No point in not making them look good if possible.
Those are both gorgeous, Alan! The more I see it in that single-pickup fretless configuration, the more I like the Finn shape. And the cocobolo on that Recurve is just amazing!

With you on that Mike I like this setup in the Finn myself. That Cocobolo is going to look great when it is finished.
More work done on the chambered Skelf. Just need a dry day to get the neck carved,so should be done next June.
What do you think you're going to string the piezo skelf with?
The vast majority of my "piezo posse" are strung with Labella tapewounds. But i've had good luck with Thomastik nylon cores and even the odd flatwound or roundwound nickel strings.
It works out Ok on the lap but better on a strap.

I don't regard talking to customers as a waste of time that applies to future ones as well.

Definitely. But I'm particularly interested in that top neck. I think we need a blown up version of that picture.
I'm not an expert but that certainly looks like a paduak/maple/wenge neck with a flame sycamore fingerboard.
I bet it would look fantastic attached to a Recurve 6 body with camphor top and back, sycamore accents and a spanish cedar core.
I would supply better pics but my editing software has developed an error. I use Fireworks but now have the 15:30 error so it is not working. Normal service will be resumed as soon as I find a fix for it.
