Acme B1 or Acme Full Range vs Eden D112XST

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, but I forgot that I was comparing a 10" cabinet to a 12".

So, what would be the difference in terms of low end comparing the Acme 12" full range to the Eden D112XST?

Agreed. The low end out of an Acme cabinet is magical. You are, however, comparing a 1x10 to a 1x12. A better comparison would ve the Eden to an Acme Flatwound or Full Range.

Andy publishes a FR graph for his 112s: http://www.acmebass.com/pdf/b112_fullrange.pdf. You can see that he uses modeling to predict the low end response below 200 Hz rather than a measurement, but that's acceptable if done honestly. You don't generally see these kinds of measurements for bass cabs unless a user measures them and publishes the results. I think if you search around, you may find something similar for the Eden cab's predecessor, the 112XLT. I made some crude measurements of the 112XLT myself when I had one and the response graph looked like Mt. Everest, very little low end rising to a huge, huge midrange peak, which is exactly how the cabinet sounded. At 31 Hz, the cabinet made virtually no sound at all. I bought a second one because that was the sound I was looking for at the time.

The specs that most manufacturers publish are pure marketing; search and read a while here and you'll see how people feel about specs. Good luck, Bob

That a good technical explanation to the simple version I had in my head. I don't think the Eden will get louder than the ACME. It might be with minimal watts but the ACME will crank with more watts.

I just sold a B1 and also recently had a Eden Ex112. The B1 is just too polite and does not get very loud at all. The Eden is much louder, punchier, and has plenty of low end. If you want a cab that can used for more than a bedroom practice cab I would not get a B1.

D112XST arrived today. I'll be testing this cabinet out over the next few days. It was late so I didn't get too loud with it as it needs to get broken in anyway (Per Eden instructions). This cabinet is built like a tank.
