Acoustic 402 Speaker ??'s

My friends!

I recently got an Acoustic 220/402 on a sweet deal.
my first real rig (Yay)

Cab was sounding distorted mid volume.
Opened up the front and the Eminence 15 has a loose wire. Not the wires that run in parallel, but the wire going into the basket of the speaker.

The other speaker, a carvin ps15 is takin the full load right now.

I don't know enough about speakers to know if I can fix.

So in the event I need to replace the speaker(s)
would you suggest another Ps15?
Or if it's a manageable fix, let a brother know!

I would look at reconing, or having the faulty speaker reconed.

I wound up putting a couple Eminence Legend 15s in, CB158. Sounded really good and didn’t require any modification to the internal cab dimensions. I don’t think it retained the exact tonal characteristics of the original white cone speakers, but it was a great vintage sound. Strong bass and mids, slightly rolled off top end. They have my vote if you replace the speakers.

One popular replacement among Acoustic Control Corp fanatics is the JBL E140-8. They aren't that hard to find, and can handle more power than the originals (though probably not as much as the newer Eminence drivers). I have an ACC 106 (similar to the 402) that has the original drivers in it, but I've sourced a few E140-8s and plan to throw them in one of these days so I don't blow the originals!

Both of these would work famously.
I dropped off the rig at the shop for a diagnostic and repairing the original eminence 15".

Should hear back in the next week. Hopefully they can fix that 15".
