Acoustic B100, B200

It will be interesting to see how the B100 holds up in the wild after a couple of years.

i picked up a B100 along with the Ocean TB75, and it sounds great...i have yet to see how it holds up with a band though.....
just out of curiosity for anyone thats used this amp. can you get a similar tone to an ampeg amp with acoustic amps? i like the prices that i saw when i looked at the very same amp on the GC website,but i never tried one yet. so if you know can you tell me if it can put out a more punky ampeg sounding tone?? cus if so then i sure as hell will go for it. but please tell me. thank you
I bought a B200 to replace an Ampeg B200R, and after a while spent tweaking the Acoustic's detailed EQ, I arrived at a rocking, pick-playing tone that for me matches the sound I got out of that particular Ampeg.
If you're looking for a B200 to sound like an SVT, you'll have to buy one of these -- I own one, I'll attest that IT WORKS! --

Simple answer, no.
I had about an hour and a half to play with the Acoustic stack(B200H, B115, B410) and tried it out with a wide variety of basses both passive and active. I think passive basses sound better through it than the actives do. It won't be loud enough for big rooms or outdoor venues without PA support.

While I trust Ray's opinion, gibsonbassist's post inquired about the Acoustic combos and their ability to get a certain sound, not the B200H stack, and its ability to fill a big room.
My bad! But I didn't think the stack was incredibly loud, IMHO. It was loud enough to get over the guitar wankery synonymous with GC. I would love to hear it in a real setting. Take that for what it's worth.

I spent some time with the stack this weekend at GC too, and while I love the B200 combo, I wasn't so impressed overall with the stack's 4x10 over 1x15 speaker set up. But then, I never really cared for the sound of a 4x10 at ear level, and did think the 1x15 sounded pretty good alone. I would have liked to hear two 1x15s!
BTW, I do own the Acoustic B200H head, and it sounds great through my super-efficient Schroeder 1212r!
actually i was talking about the 200H stack. sry i should have put it out there that it was the one i meant. but is it really not loud enough?? cause i need to cut thru two other guitar players loudness. and i wanted the ampeg like tone to go with it.

You should post at the "Acoustic Club" thread and ask some of the guys there... quite a few who check that thread have the B200H stack using various Acoustic cabs.
In a word, yes! I recently tried out combo amps for a friend and ended up buying the acoustic B100 for him because it sounded much better than the Fender Rumble 100 and appeared to be better build quality. I've played the Ampeg before and wasn't impressed with the volume and lack of speaker outputs. The B100 was also on sale for $225 which is pretty good for a 100-watt practice amp.
The Acoustic had a nice and lively tone to it and the notch filter seemed to provide a lot of different tones from old-school tube-like to a more modern sound.
Man, I need to check one of these out. I'm actually in love with my BA115 since I did a little tweeter surgery. I hear Acoustic is pretty badass, and for $350 I can get 200 watts???? I feel a little Christmas GAS coming on.
You should really try it out in person. The new Acoustic amps have a lot of great things going for them, including tone, I love my B200 combo. But you're not going to get Ampeg tone from an Acoustic amp.
Hey, my B200H into two avatar Neo 210's are louder than god. And extremly full but yes i do have PA support.

Well I just got the B100 and it as as good as you guys say. Loud, clear, gets a liltle bit grainy when I crank it up way high, but not too bad. If I didnt already have a stack I'd consider buying ths B200H and 4x10 cab.
I just got a B100 combo and it's barely an upgrade from my Crate B25.. is the B200 combo much more powerful than the b100?
