Acoustic Bass Problem

What should I get after I return my deffective ABG

  • Just replace it with the same Ibanez ABG. Yours was probably a lemon.

I have one of the early Godin's with the metal tines. They are very impressive. Their certainly loud enough to practice with unplugged. I like them because they are so light and playable. There's currently one "sittin' on the dock of the bay" Used Godin A4 Acoustic/Electric Bass | eBay

The only other ABG I've liked is the Tacoma Thunderchief and they are pretty pricey.

I may roll with the Takamine. I never knew they made it in black.

I tried one of these at Sam Ash, and it played much nicer than the Ibanez AEB10.

For less than $200 more, I have a feeling I will get a much nicer instrument.

I have a contact who always gives me a great deal. The Sam Ash had the cheaper natural model Tak, and they are less than friendly, there.

I've had an older G series for 5-6 years. If the newer model is anything like the older, you can't go wrong.

There's one on the bay for 350.00. Don't much care for the 3 day return though.

I avoid the Bay for instruments. I don't like his return policy.

I have not forgotten that MF thread. I contact Skaught anytime I need gear. Always a happy customer. :)

I'm excited, and kicking myself at the same time for being a cheap a$$. However, I wasn't aware that Tak made some of their stuff in black. :bassist:

If you liked it in the first place but you're just unhappy with the issues on that particular one, you should just replace it by another of the same model.

I've got an Ibanez ABG, which I choose among many other models available. Mine is a EWB30PDE, of their exotic wood series. It has a nice and warm sound, and it's quite an eye catcher too. Looking at it closely, I confess, it's not 100% flawless, but no acoustic basses I've tried are either, of any brand except higher end stuff. If you're ready to spend 1000$ on an ABG or more, you might have something near perfect. Otherwise my advice is to buy a bass you can try before buying it. I did, I'm happy. I would never order a bass...

I did try both brands. Back when I did, the Takamine was a much better piece. This was me comparing the entry level Tak against the mid level Ibby AEB10. In a perfect world, I'd love to walk into a store, and buy what I need, but a lot of places lack any selection. With MF, it's no risk if it's deffective.
