Not at all. I personally prefer GHS Pressurewound bronze on mine, but lots of folks like nylon tape strings, or even standard nickel or steel flat wounds and round wounds.
Not necessarily... If you want to be heard when playing unplugged, bronze strings do have the best projection acoustically, but if you'll be playing plugged in, then there are more options.
No - I use Chrome Flats on mine. They are actually fairly loud, acoustically. I have tried all the acoustic bass strings out there and really haven’t been all that impressed with them.
