acoustic electric bass strings

I've been playing electric basses for years, but just bought my first acoustic electric bass. It came with Bronze wound strings, but I'm thinking of putting tape wounds on it. I've hooked up with a Rockabilly band and I will be using this bass whenever the stand-up bass is not being played. Do you think the tape wounds are a good idea to keep the sound a bit more constant?

hi hagbass-

fwiw, i've been experimenting with tapewounds on a couple of my basses, one hollowbody, and one jazz bass, and i really dig them. they don't sound as 'organic' to me as my flatwounds, but they do have a neat tone that i would think might work well in a rockabilly setting.
