Acoustic flatwounds anybody?

Ok, so here it is. I've just ordered a fretless acoustic 4, and i want to put flats on it.

I am just wondering if you can get acoustic flats, that might be a little louder then electric strings, or if i would just have to use electric strings, if so, what are some loud flatwounds.

My ABG is a Tacoma Thunderchief. The strings that I've used on it for some time now are D'Addario Chromes. No, they're not specifically suggested for ABG, but for me they work/feel/sound perfect. If you're looking for flatwounds I can give my recommendation for those strings.

I know there's one brand that do a brass flat specially for ABG, but I can't remember their name.

I use TI Jazz Flats, myself.

I have never head of flats made specfically for ABG. I just use GHS Precisions on mine. Sounds very uprightish to me. Tapewounds sound good on them as well.

I have Rotosound LD77's on my Dean EAB fretless. I think it would be interesting to try the Sadowsky flats on it, but they are booked on my warwick.

I second the GHS strings, too. They aren't as loud as rounds on mine, though. I like the "woody" tone a lot.

When I need volume, I swap from my TI's to an old set of Roto Swing 66's I keep handy.

I'm using Fender Tapewounds on my Tacoma. It sounds great, even with me playing it.

I use TI flats on my fretless ABG. Sounds great. And you're going to have to plug in to some sort of an amp in any case if you're doing anything besides practicing alone.

I guess people use them, but i have a question. Since ABG's are already really quiet, wouldn't flats make them even quieter?

I had my favorite flats (TIs) on my 5str ABG but switched to daddario half wounds on it, I find it a happy medium and works great for me on an acoustic.
