Double Bass Acoustic Image Clarus + ...?

I've found that one cab will do a pretty small room, say well under 100 people but the two cabs together will go pretty much as loud as you want (within reason, of course). The difference in dispersion is quite extreme. I will say that I mostly use them with electric bass and may be playing significantly louder than you wish to. If you raise the single cab off the ground you may get better results too.

My suggestion would be that if funds aren't a big problem, buy one and see how you go. If it's not enough, buy another. Then you'll be set.

They are tough little cabs too, speaker wise. I've given mine a belting and they still perform flawlessly.

Cheers,

Tim

I wouldn't worry about that. If anything, GK is voiced more for electric bass and best known for use by rock players but no cab is only suited for one style. If that were the case then I would have a hell of a time finding cabs to use with my calypso band! People are worried about the perception of brands but it's really all in the head....

If you are concerned about labels, have you tried the EA cabs? Have a look at the Gollihur site, they are upright specialists.

Cheers,

Tim

I have an AI Clarus, older model, and I run it through a 1x15. I really like that with both my upright and electric. The "air" of the 1x15 is a little more "acoustic" sounding to my ear, though I have run a 1x12 a couple times and I really like that too. That's probably my next cab. A 1x12.
