Double Bass Acoustic Image Coda RII - questions please

I'm considering a used AI Coda R II series I found used. Asking $650 for the amp as well as an extension cab and hard case.

What are folks experiences with this amp? Positives/negatives? Also what do you think about the price?

Currently doing my upright gigs with a blue light Walter Woods head and one or two Euphonic Audio VL110 cabs. I love this rig, but the lighter weight and easy to dial in tone options of the Acoustic Image appeals to me.

Since I still own a Walter Woods Electroacoustic Ultra (Blue Lignt) and used to play through EA-Vl 110's and 108. That older Coda R sounds nothing like your ultra.
My take would be for you to get a cabinet that sounds great with your Woods. While AI amps have simpler EQ sections, that doesn't necessarily make them any
easier to dial in the tone quality your'e after. I love MAS 1/8 cabinets, if you're willing to wait on one. Their light weight and incredible sounding. AI's new Double
Shot cabinet is beautiful sounding and extremely light weight. Just my take however. While I know there are TB members who use Coda's they arereally designed
to be guitar amplifiers not bass amps. Rick Jones will tell you that. AI has moved on to better designs and different cabinets. Good luck.

I've been using a Coda sIII for about 15 years now.

I'm another WW owner (green light) using it with Bergantino 1-12 cabs. I only use the WW now on gigs calling for BG or doubling.

I use the Coda for all my DB-only gigs. The HPF is a godsend, solved all my feedback issues. I never use the notch filter option or the effects. I found the EQ well voiced and like the ability to run a mike, not for miking my bass but for a vocal mike on some gigs. The DI out works well, never had any issues with noise.

It's not going to be as loud as a blue light WW, even with the extension (I have a Ten2 EX 2-10 cab), but it easily keeps up with drummers in non-rock situations. I only use the extension outdoors.

$650 with the extension is a good price.

Well aware it’s not as loud as my WW but for most my upright gigs I don’t need slot of volume.

sounds like this must be an older unit then. It has the HSC too. I was really imply with the tone. Sounds like yours has served you well.

I've loved my AI Coda for 20 years! Though I've blown the down-firing woofer out twice (playing electric bass through it with a drummer, not a good idea), but it still sounds great. I use it by itself on jazz gigs, even with a big band it does the trick! Or if I need a little more umph, with a GK115 extension cab.

I think I paid around $1000 for it in 2001. So I'd jump on this deal at $650

Good morning. Just want to, once again, thank you all for chiming in. I went ahead and bought the Coda along with it's extension cab and I could not be happier. My Woods will always be my number one amp for electric gigs, but for upright gigs the AI is just what I wanted and meets my needs perfectly.
