you are honestly experiencing distress of mind over your disappointment with their decision to begin selling guitar amps again?
this is no different to me than Fender or any of the other companies who have been cranking out HUGE numbers of reissues to cash in on their glory days. it is commonplace. using an antiquated and wholly overused pop culture reference in regards to it is frankly quite silly. when your distress goes beyond Acoustic to the countless other companies doing the same maybe then it will have some legs. until then you are just picking nits.

+1 with just one observation. Unless I have missed something over the last 3 or 4 years, technically, this (making guitar amps) will be a new venture for the young and budding Guitar Center house brand Acoustic Amplification. I took a quick peak at the link and some of the specifications for the amps and noticed that they are not tube or valve amps but solid state which would be true to form of their namesake. Hmmmm, I'm no guitar player but it seems to me that solid state guitar amps are few and far between. I mean aren't mostly all relevant, long standing and lusted after guitar amps tube/valve driven? Am I speaking out of school (quite possible, I play bass...not a pro) or are these guys being gutsy and taking some pretty big chances with this line? Do they perhaps have some "ancient Chinese secret" to make an affordable SS semi-kick butt guitar amp? Or will they be "jumping the carp"? I wish them the best either way (after all I am invested in their bass stuff) but it should be pretty interesting to say the least. All this fish talk makes me want to go practice my "scales"..lol...sorry, at the risk of being koi, I couldn't resist.:D

Just tried these out at our local GC....
sub-par at best. the built in effects are alright. but in a world of Line 6 and Peavey Vypyr's, they fall short.
The rep there, when asked about the amps, said "well I can't really tell you that they're bad, but they've got really good.... cleans"

I have most certainly have both heard of and heard in person many times, the Roland Jazz Chorus. They are awesome! My guess is that the Roland JC's are way up the price model by comparison to the new Acoustic Amplification models. As they should be. Are they still being made? I hope so. Thanks for the recollection.

I know a lot of guitarists who prefer tubes, but I'm seeing more and more SS guitar amps on stages, including dudes who are hardcore tube amp fans. Our guitarist is using one of those cheapie Vox SS amps. Sounds good to us...he also rotates with a little Mesa tube rig and a Vibrolux, but the Vox is a pretty sweet amp and he's using it more often these days.

I really love the Valvetronix series, and use one for guitar myself. But most guitarists I know are not impressed with them. There's still a lot of tube snobbery in the guitar world!

Acoustic did make tube guitar amps right at the tail end of their first stint. They were highly problematic (at least all the ones in my shop were) and the lifetime warranty actually drove some dealers to buy or trade them back from owners and stick 'em in a pile somewhere out of the public eye. With some massaging they could sound great though, IME.

I have one of those. It sounds amazing and it is as reliable as the solid state Acoustic amps I have and use regularly. It's a guitar amp, so I don't play through it so much, but I'm very happy with it. It has plenty of different sounds lurking in it, but it gets so earsplittingly loud I usually just use a little low power Gibson BR-9 lap steel amp for guitar playing instead.
