Though this step-up transformer will work in many situations, I'm concerned about its 500w capacity; this may be somewhat limiting for many bass amps, which can occasionally pull high peak current from the AC mains. It's also another 8.376lbs (3.8kg) to lug around!
You could always get a bigger transformer - like this http://www.voltageconverters.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VC3000W. You're right about the weight though - I used to lug around a 3KW transformer - that's why I gave in and had the Trace Elliot converted to US voltage.
I do still use a smaller transformer @home with my Marshall JMP-1 and 8004 though. The power consumption should be written on the back of whatever devices you want to use - just add up the wattage of all the devices you want to run and then choose the appropriate size transformer (there's some guideline about how much bigger the transformer needs to be - like here for example Link Removed).
