Active 5'er for electronic music?

I'm looking for an active 5 string bass to use in electronic music productions. House, hip hop and dub music mostly.

This will be used as a studio bass for direct recording.

In terms of sound I would like it to be punchy like a good fender jazz but have that sweet round sound of active electronics.

As a reference I had a spector legend and I liked the neck and playability but I felt that the sound was muffled and it lacked punch.

My budget is $1000.

Which one do you recommend?

You say you like the Jazz, so why not try a deluxe Jazz bass

or

You say you like the neck on the spector, you could change the electronics
