Active Bass Question?

I change all my active basses batteries twice a year. I use daylight savings time changes as my guide...something easy to remember.

I think this is the best advice. Along with unplugging when you're not playing (which is a good habit to get into anyway).

Unless you're playing 8+ hours a day. There really isn't a need to change your batteries very often. I can appreciate the paranoia factor, but I've had an Energizer in my Washburn acoustic/electric that is still going strong after about 2 years! I don't use the bass regularly (maybe once or twice a month) but it's still sounding great - and I believe piezos can suck a lot of juice.

I'm not recommending the 2 year approach, change whenever you feel it's nescessary. They aren't going to stop making 9volts anytime soon. They are getting pricey though, aren't they?

I usually change my batteries once a year. At that time most of the batteries are still useable. Also something to consider is the type of battery you are using

Duracells are typically recommended because they remain at full voltage until it dies and goes quickly. On the other hand, energizers tend to slowly lose power over a longer period of time. Depending what you do this may not be an issue. But in some applications, such as wireless mics, being at less that full power may cause feedback, distortion etc.
