Active to Passive?

GSR 200s are active now?

That sucks!

I would rip out whatever pre amp that's in it and go completely passive tone/volume.

Active pick ups are one thing, active pre amps seem to be landing in everything nowadays and I am not on board with that.
 
passive beats active anyday in my book. i'd do vol/tone for neck pup, vol/tone for bridge pup. don't see why they would interact like line6man says.

I disagree. Passive= high impedance output.:bawl:

When you have two tone controls, when the volumes are both turned up, those tones are parallel to each other at 0 Ohms. Turning one down will affect both pickups.

Staying passive, the only way to avoid the interaction is to isolate the signal paths with resistors, at the cost of some output.

I do when they are wasting money. For example a guy wanted to buy some of the EVH low friction pots for his guitar. I told his don't waste your money, since they are the same as the regular Bourns guitar pots, which cost $2.58. The EVH version is $8.99.

I'm not saying don't buy any gear, just shop wisely and don't waste your money. Money is harder to come by than gear!

Just because you come into money doesn't mean you should spend all of it. It might come in real handy somewhere down the road.

Why wouldn't they interact? Each one is connected from the signal to ground. When you have both pickups on they also interact. So turning down the tone on the neck pickup will also remove the high end from the bridge pickup. It's like that on every instrument with two tone controls.

Not every instrument. Early Fenders had resistors in series with the signal from each pickup/volume/tone to the output.

Right, but I was talking about currently produced instruments, such as a Rickenbacker or Gibson Les Paul.

But that's correct of course. Fender also stopped doing it that way, so we have to assume someone wasn't happy with the setup.
