Ad sizing display issue & last page memory

Hello, I’ve noticed some minor viewing issues that I’ve just learned and confirmed some are related to the ad sizing. This started a few months ago and I finally decided to ask for help on the apple support forum where I got the explanation, then I was able to confirm as well.

First issue is when scrolling a page it will move side to side and partially off screen sometimes.
So I just checked and it’s caused by the ad at the top of the page being off center and extending off screen to the right, so scrolling will allow the page to move left partially off screen. I just refreshed a page that this was happening on and then the ad was centered and the page did not drift left or right when scrolling. But refreshing doesn’t fix it every time.

second is when viewing a page and the bottom ad changes and changes size, it causes the rest of the page I’m viewing to move position in relation to the ad size

third is when browsing classifieds I’ll view a for sale ad and when I hit the back button to the last page it jumps to the top of the page instead of remembering where I left off


This didn’t happen until a few months ago, 4-6 I think, and I think only after updating my iPad to version 15. I have An iPad 6th gen & 15.5 installed.

Starting yesterday I started getting new page wide x 1/4 screen ads between posts on the amps forum. As the ads load, the cursor on any text being typed will sometimes disappear. (Chrome)

This is highly annoying!!!

my new 'ad experience' (as agedhorse and others have described) didn't start until yesterday/saturday, whereas others reported it earlier in the week --- a 'rolling' obnoxiousness?

I've just today noticed the new-to-me ads between posts and find them a bit confusing, mistaking them for posts, at first. Is there some type of top & bottom borders that could help to identify/separate them better?

I can understand the need for them, but they also have my browser page jumping up and down as the different ads load at different times. At least, that's what appears to be happening.

I can understand the need for ad revenue, but am I mistaken that one benefit of a supporting membership was their avoidance within the actual feed?

I'm now seeing the ads between posts for the first time today as well

I believe only a gold membership removes all ads

I would like your post except I don’t . I think you’re right, but I’m not sure why this change wasn’t broadly communicated.

I gotta say the new thing with ads appearing between posts is annoying enough to affect how much I use the forum. Hope this isn’t a permanent change, it’s not like I’m gonna buy anything from an ad because it’s there. It just makes talkbass less enjoyable

I now have ads that block the bottom 2" of screen, and sometimes block the in box and alerts tabs.

My main malfunction is that I keep hitting the wrong link on my Unread Watched Threads page because they jump up and down with the slow loading ads! Likewise, going to those threads sees a lot of jumping around before settling down to read new posts.

It slows me down, and interrupts my internal beat, waiting for the page to stabilize, before "going in" for the desired click. It just seems SO much more invasive than necessary.

Yes. In short, it's a new ad vendor. They're working on it. Problems should be resolved soon.

THANK YOU, THANK you, thank you, for removing the ad at the top of the "Unread Watched Threads" page!!! Now that those links have stopped jumping I haven't missed a one! It sure was flusterating playing "Whack-a-Mole" with 'em before.

I no longer seem to have issues related to ad sizes. And the previous page memory seems to be working again for me too

Ads showing between posts a lot now is very annoying though. Wasn’t that way in the past as far as I’ve noticed.
